Super Heinz Betting Explained: A Complete Guide for Irish Punters

A horse, mid-race, possibly helping someones super heinz bet!

WHAT IS A SUPER HEINZ BET?

WHAT IS A SUPER HEINZ BET?

A Super Heinz bet involves seven different selections from separate events or markets. From these seven selections, 120 bets are automatically created: 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 fourfolds, 21 fivefolds, 7 sixfolds, and 1 sevenfold.

Because it includes every possible multiple from doubles up to the sevenfold, a Super Heinz bet is a highly structured combination bet that offers multiple ways to generate a return. Some punters may consider a Super Heinz bet when backing multiple selections across different dog or horse betting events. While less popular, it is possible to make Super Heinz bets in other sports, like football or rugby. It is, of course, important to keep in mind that winning is never guaranteed.

It is also vital to understand that the cost of a Super Heinz bet is high because you are placing 120 separate bets. There is no guarantee of a return, and you can lose your entire stake.

HOW A SUPER HEINZ BET WORKS

Each of the 120 bets in a Super Heinz bet is placed at the same stake per line. For example, if you stake €1 per line, the total cost is €120 (€1 × 120). This is where you need to be careful, as making so many bets at once is expensive when compared to singles, doubles or even patent bets. The bookmaker automatically combines your seven selections into every possible double, treble, fourfold, fivefold, sixfold, and sevenfold.

The odds multiply in the doubles and higher-fold bets, which is why even partial wins can still produce returns. However, losing multiple selections will reduce the total payout, so it’s important to plan your stake carefully.

SUPER HEINZ BET EXAMPLE IN GREYHOUND RACING

OK, so far so good – but how does this actually work for punters sports betting in Malta? Well, imagine betting on seven dogs in separate races at Leopardstown, with the following odds: Dog A (3/1), Dog B (5/2), Dog C (7/2), Dog D (4/1), Dog E (3/1), Dog F (6/1), and Dog G (5/1). With a €1 stake per line, the total stake is €120.

If three dogs win, the punter collects returns from the doubles, trebles, and fourfolds that include the winning dogs. With five winning dogs, the returns increase, including many combinations in the fivefold and sixfold bets. If all seven selections win, every bet from the 120 combinations pays out, generating the maximum return. However, if your selections do not win, you may lose your entire stake.

A Super Heinz bet covers more combinations than a traditional accumulator, which means that you may receive a return even if not all your selections win. However, the total cost is much higher, and you can still lose your entire stake.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOME SUPER HEINZ SELECTIONS LOSE?

A Super Heinz bet can still produce returns even when only a few selections win. If only one or two selections succeed, most of the higher-fold bets fail, but doubles and trebles that include the winners will pay out. With three or four winners, the punter benefits from a wider range of combinations, increasing the overall payout.

Compare this to a more traditional sevenfold accumulator. This requires every one of your selections to win for any return. The structure of a Super Heinz bet provides multiple opportunities to win while keeping the total stake spread across many bets.

SUPER HEINZ BET VS OTHER MULTIPLE BETS

A Super Heinz bet is larger and more complex than other structured multiples. For comparison:

  • A Heinz bet uses six selections to create 57 bets.
  • A Yankee uses four selections to create 11 bets.

The Super Heinz bet increases both potential returns and the total stake while also spreading risk across numerous combinations, thereby increasing the overall stake.

WHEN MIGHT A SUPER HEINZ BET BE WORTH CONSIDERING?

A Super Heinz bet may be appropriate when backing seven strong favourites across separate dog or horse races. It may be of particular interest at major horse meetings on the horse racing calendar, such as Cheltenham, Royal Ascot, or the Grand National, where multiple races take place on the same day.

IS A SUPER HEINZ BET RIGHT FOR YOU?

A Super Heinz bet is a flexible, structured multiple that offers numerous ways to win, but it requires careful total-stake management due to the high number of bets involved. It is generally suited to experienced Irish punters exploring combinations beyond basic accumulators.
